Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said on Wednesday that European Union countries that reject Russia’s proposed oil embargo would be “complicit” in war crimes.

“If any country in Europe continues to oppose the embargo on Russian oil, there will be strong grounds to talk about the involvement of this country in the crimes committed by Russia on the territory of Ukraine,” he added in statements on social networks. Earlier Wednesday, Hungary rejected Brussels’ proposal “in its current form.”

Kuleba explained that Russia is using oil and gas revenues to “continue financing its war machine.”

He added that if any member of the bloc opposes the ban, “it means one thing: they are on the side of the Russians and share responsibility for everything Russia does in Ukraine.”

On the other hand, Kuleba welcomed the European proposal but opposed the proposed gradual schedule, stating “But it’s better than nothing.”
