Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said he will hold a phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin to find out his stance on the idea of a tripartite meeting between the three presidents of Turkey, Russia and Ukraine.
In his statements on Wednesday, Erdogan emphasized his intention to follow the issue closely, saying, “I will ask Putin for his opinion on a tripartite meeting in the presence of the Ukrainian president.”
Erdogan has proposed several times before to attempt a summit between Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin to resolve the ongoing crisis in relations between the two countries since 2014.
Earlier this week, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu reiterated that Ankara is ready to be invited by the Turkish President to host a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky.
Earlier, the Kremlin said: “Putin is ready to meet with anyone, but it is necessary to understand what will be discussed at this meeting and what will be the outcome.”
