The Russian Embassy in the German capital announced the prevention of a “terrorist attack with the use of explosives” against Russian media journalists and their families in Berlin.
Today, Saturday, RT Arabia reported that a suspicious object was found in the building where journalists live, and after investigation, sappers confirmed that it was an explosive device planted in the mihrab of the building.
Earlier in the day, German police said they were checking a suspicious item found in the office of the Russian news agency RIA Novosti in Berlin.
On Friday, police found an unfamiliar object at the scene with a bottle in a lamppost (which allows light to reach the darkened area) and could not determine if it posed a danger.
In a message on the Telegram app, the same agency described the object as a wire-wrapped container and said it was found in the apartment of some of its reporters on the spot.
“Forensic experts are analyzing whether there is a danger or not,” said Berlin police spokesman Telo Kalbitz.
“We can’t yet determine whether the object is dangerous or not and whether it is someone’s ridiculous joke,” Kalpets added.
