Aramco sponsors participation of Saudi students in the Formula 1 final in the UK

Saudi Aramco sponsored the participation of 18 students from various public and private schools across the Kingdom in the Aramco Formula 1 Schools Global Finals held at Silverstone in the United Kingdom from 10 to 14 July. participation of 227 students from 54 countries.

Aramco is the main sponsor of the Formula 1 School Final for the period 2021-2023. In December 2021, it announced a partnership with Formula 1 in Schools, which is a science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) global challenge; Regulate competition in the Kingdom.

King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture “Itra” provided a specialized training program to qualify the participating students and prepare them for international participation through several stages of theoretical and practical training, as well as several workshops where their models and designs for cars imitating Formula 1 cars in schools, were presented at the Center for Simulation and Development Technology at the King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals in Dhahran in a laboratory equipped with the latest technological devices developed and augmented by a global model that simulates scientific facts and promotes skill development and supports their innovation.

Talal bin Hussein Al Marri, CEO of Public Relations at Saudi Aramco, said this sponsorship represents an opportunity to encourage innovative youth to lead the future of the creative industries in the Kingdom in line with the company’s efforts and its national responsibility in developing and developing society to participate in achieving the Kingdom’s ambitious vision. These youngsters have qualified for this championship under the guidance of the Itra Centre, which hosted selected Formula 1 winners in Saudi schools, teaching, guiding and supporting them in building their own Formula 1 car models.

The competition is expected to be a testament to students’ contribution to enhancing sustainability efforts and spurring potential as Aramco offers a range of youth-focused educational programs such as the Stemania program which encourages girls from grades one through nine where Formula 1 can be introduced into school programs in the Kingdom, and to promote interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics in all parts of the world.

Notably, during the National Qualifiers, some of the Kingdom’s brightest young minds had the opportunity to compete in a challenge that involved designing and building a miniature racing car using design tools and ancillary manufacturing.

The competition featured public and private school students aged 9 to 19 and worked in teams of 3 to 6 as the first team in the Kingdom reached the Aramco Formula 1 High Schools World Finals in the United Kingdom. .
