The Kremlin yesterday confirmed that Russian President Vladimir Putin is in good health, dismissing rumors that he has health problems.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters that there have been rumors in the West in recent months about the president’s health, but reports that he is ill “are nothing but lies.”
It is noteworthy that in recent months there have been many Ukrainian statements that spoke about the illness of the Russian president.
One of them stated that the Kremlin host was “in a very poor psychological and physical condition, suffering from cancer and very ill.”
And in June last year, Newsweek reported, citing US intelligence sources, that Putin had been treated for advanced cancer in April.
On the other hand, the US National Security Council denied being the source of this information.
In early April, Russian investigative journalism website The Project reported that Putin was seriously ill and was receiving regular visits from a well-known Russian oncologist.
The Kremlin has consistently denied this information. As Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told the French channel TF1 at the end of May, “I don’t think any reasonable person would see signs of any illness or injury in Putin.”
