Chelsea signed young Aston Villa midfielder Karne Chukwueimika on Thursday for $24 million.
Aston Villa manager Steven Gerrard has ruled out the midfielder from his team on a pre-season tour of Australia after refusing to renew his contract, which expires in 2023.
Chokovaimika, who turns 19 in October, joined Villa in May 2021 and made 14 appearances last season, including two as a regular in the English Premier League (Premier League).
He played a key role during England’s victory in the European Under-19 Cup in July.
“It was tiring, but the last few days I couldn’t get Chelsea out of my head and now I’m relieved to have finished it,” Chukveimika said.
He became the third player to be signed by Chelsea this summer, after Senegalese defender Koulibaly from Napoli and striker Raheem Sterling from Manchester City, the reigning champions.
