The International Union of Muslim Scholars issued a statement regarding its president Ahmed Raissouni’s attack on Algeria and Mauritania in a television interview in which he called for a march on Tindouf, believing that “the existence of Mauritania is wrong.”
The clarification of the International Union of Muslim Scholars, published on its official website, states: “The Charter of the International Union of Scholars provides that the opinion attributed to the Union is the opinion that is agreed upon, signed by the President. and by the Secretary-General after consultation, and then issued on behalf of the Union.” “Based on this principle, interviews or articles by His Eminence the President or the Secretary General express only the opinion of the author and not necessarily the opinion of the Union.”
The Union added: What His Eminence Raisuni prefers in this interview or others about the desert is his own opinion before the President, and he has the right to express his personal opinion with full respect and appreciation for him and others, but it is not the opinion of the Union. He emphasized: “One of the unchanging principles of the Union is that he always supports his Islamic nation to promote it and that his role is to be an honest adviser with all Islamic countries and peoples, and he wants only good for of his nation. peace and comprehensive reconciliation, as well as the resolution of all their disputes and problems through constructive dialogue and sincere cooperation.”
