In a freak accident that almost led to disaster, two Ethiopian pilots fell asleep above the clouds during their flight.
Specifically, two Ethiopian Airlines pilots fell asleep on a flight from Khartoum to Addis Ababa as the plane was flying at 37,000 feet and approaching Addis Ababa airport when neither the pilot nor his co-pilot responded to the warning from the control room.
The control tower continued to attempt to contact the pilot, but all these attempts were unsuccessful, but the autopilot system saved the aircraft and its passengers from imminent disaster.
After the autopilot system kicked in, the two pilots woke up in the last moments before the plane crashed on the runway of the Ethiopian capital’s airport, landing safely 25 minutes late.
