The websites of the Ukrainian governmentle Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the State Security Service were down Wednesday in that the government said was the start of another massive denial-of-service (DDoS) attack which began around 4 p.m. local time.

Ukrainian authorities said this week that they had seen online warnings that hackers were preparing to launch major attacks on government agencies, banks and defense sector.

Ukraine suffered a string of cyberattacks that Kyiv blamed on Russia. Moscow, which is taken up in an escalating clash with west over Ukraine, denied any involvement.

“Around 4 p.m., another mass DDoS attack on our state began. We have relevant data from a number of banks,” said Mykhailo Fedorov, minister of digital transformation, adding that the parliament website has been also hit.

He did not mention which banks were affected and the central bank could not be reached immediately for comment.

the online networks of The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense and two banks were overwhelmed last week in a separate cyberattack. US company Netscout Systems Inc. later said the impact was modest.

NetBlocks Internet Blocks Observatory posted a tweet on Thursday which showed a drop-off in ties with Ukraine government websites.

“We found that the current network the disturbance has a partial impact on the network layer to multiple defense and corporate websites in Ukraine,” NetBlocks director Alp Toker told Reuters.

“The propagation of failures are similar but distinct from recent DDOS attack targeting defense and banking platforms, with the latter not impacted in this example”, he added.
