Shinzo Abe’s assassination leads to the overthrow of Japan’s police chief

Japan’s National Police Chief Itaru Nakamura announced yesterday that he has resigned after admitting he failed to protect former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, who was assassinated on July 8 at a campaign rally. “We have decided to reorganize our team and start fresh with regards to our security responsibilities and for this reason I have submitted my resignation,” Nakamura said at a press conference.
