With Ukrainian forces regaining control over most of the settlements in the northeast of the Kharkiv region after the withdrawal of Russian troops, over the past few days, Kyiv has announced the discovery of torture rooms in some of these areas.

Director of the National Police of Ukraine Igor Klymenko said on Friday that ten “torture chambers” had been discovered.

“So far I can talk about ten torture chambers that were found in the cities of Bukharkov, including two in the city of Balakleya,” he added.

Most of those buried are civilians

As for the mass grave discovered yesterday in the city of Izyum, he pointed out that most of those buried there were civilians.

Asked if the cemetery was mostly civilians or soldiers, Klymenko said at a press conference today: “Based on preliminary estimates, most of them are civilians, although we have information about the presence of military forces there, but we have not prepared any of them yet.” According to AFP,

Over 450 graves

Earlier today, adviser to the President of Ukraine Mykhailo Podolyak explained the discovery of more than 450 graves near the Ukrainian Izyum.

“This is one of the other mass graves discovered near Iseum,” he tweeted, adding: “Terror, violence, torture and massacres reigned in the occupied territories for several months.”

450 graves… Total one of mass graves discovered near Izyum. For months, rampant terror, violence, torture and massacres have been in occupied territories. Someone else wants to “freeze the war” instead of sending tanks? We have no right to leave people one with evil. rice.twitter.com/YxGyOZfm1Y

He also once again called on pro-Ukraine parties to send weapons so that, as he puts it, “citizens are not left alone in the face of evil.”

For its part, the United Nations has announced that it is working to send a mission to the site to investigate the allegations.

mass grave

This comes after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced the discovery of a “mass grave” in Izyum on Thursday evening, without giving any details about the number of people or the cause of death.

But local police officer Sergei Botvinov explained that some of the dead were shot dead, while others were the result of shelling.

Significantly, Kyiv has repeatedly accused Russian forces of committing numerous atrocities in the territories it controls, especially in the city of Bucha on the outskirts of Kyiv, from which they withdrew at the end of March last year, and Russia denies that they committed any wrongdoing. or intended for civilians.

This new chapter of accusations came after the recent withdrawal of Russian troops from Kharkov, after Kyiv launched a counter-offensive also in the north, east and south of the country and took control of large areas in it.
