The death toll from the collapse of an old four-story building in Amman rose to 14 after the last body was removed from the rubble, a Jordanian security source said yesterday.
Public Security Directorate spokesman Amer Al-Sartawi said: “After difficult, continuous and repeated search and rescue operations lasting more than 84 hours, search and rescue teams managed to evacuate the last victim from the rubble. , so the result of what they have been doing since the accident was reported was 14 deaths.
According to a medical source, the last body belonged to a woman, and the day before, rescuers removed the bodies of her two daughters. He added: “According to the investigation identified in relation to the persons in the apartment building, all detainees have been found,” noting that “at the moment, there have been no reports of other missing persons.”
As of Friday, three days after the building collapsed, 13 bodies had been recovered from the rubble of a building in Jabal al-Waybda, one of the oldest neighborhoods in the Jordanian capital.
