Influenced by “Star Wars” movies that he looked at as a child, Cihat Uygun transformed son living room into a museum by collecting all the pieces he has found in connection with world-famous movie series over 30 years. Today he has a huge “Star Wars” collection of approximately 500 pieces, including products he made himself, who take up an entire room.
Uygoun, who Lives in the northwestern Turkish province of Edirne, east one of the millions of fans of “Star Wars” by George Lucas around the world.
“I followed the series since first movies,” Uygun told the Demirören Agency (DHA), adding that he had been collecting figures since he was 15.
Recreate scenes from the movies in dioramas in the living room of his house with the pieces he collects, says Uygun, “I started collecting the products that I like from Turkey and abroad. There is a company that makes these figurines, I use the characters and represent them in dioramas. I keep collecting them,” he said.
“My exhibition space is limited to the living room, but I have a lot more items which have not yet been opened. It’s a childhood passion for I continued it without suppressing the child in me. “Star Wars” is like a legend of the new age. I keep this love alive by making collections in this way,” he added.
Declaring that the idea of transform son living room in museum derives from the examples he has seen on social mediaUygun said: “To first, I was just collecting them. Then I said I could do better when I saw examples on social media. I wanted it would be like a museum. Over time, the number of the numbers have increased, the idea of how to improve it, it occurred to me. I recreated the scenes, and this is the result.”
Uygun said he wanted for display numbers, and that’s why he exposes them to homeadding that fun of son hobby trumps financial burden it brings. Expressing that he thinks it will be a lifelong hobby, Uygun also said that visitors to son “Star Wars” museum had liked it and pointed out that they had no intention of selling the figures.
Hüseyin Ülker, a friend of Uygun who helped him with his collection, said: “I helped him with the effects and the making of the film of some numbers. However, he is the real hero, the leading role in the creation of this museum. He has over 1 million followers on social media.”
“As far as I knowThere’s only one such exhibition museum in Istanbul. Apart from that, there are no other professionals in Turkey who are interested and exhibit in this way. I try to support my friend as much as I can”, he added.
