Specifically, the military spokesman’s office said in a statement that the navy seized the boat after it was found carrying Kalashnikovs, ammunition boxes and explosives, the official Sudanese news agency said.

Notably, the navy, which has been in formation since 2021 and includes elements of the navy, has previously succeeded in seizing large quantities of drugs, weapons and explosives smuggled in by Yemeni and Sudanese criminals.
The Red Sea is often the scene of arms smuggling operations, especially by the Iranian-backed Houthis. The militias are also trying to plant sea mines that threaten the safety of navigation, and in recent years many countries have warned about this problem.
