Kuwaiti voters will vote on Thursday, September 29, 2022 to select fifty members to represent them in the National Assembly, as this electoral process comes just two months after the dissolution of parliament.
The French news agency said that this new election date is distinguished by the participation of many opponents who have withdrawn from political action, such as Muhammad Musayed Al-Dosari, who belongs to the People’s Action Movement, and said: “The reason for this return is the content of the speech given by the Crown Prince of Kuwait on behalf of the Emir of the country in June 2022, a speech that included clear and precise promises and commitments not to interfere in the electoral process and to defend democracy.

313 candidates, including 22 women candidates, are vying for 50 seats representing 5 constituencies amid a push for women to return to the Abdullah al-Salem Hall in the National Assembly after losing their only seat during the legislative elections held in December 2020 of the year. Women make up 51.2% of the electorate. There are 795,920 voters.
The Kuwait National Assembly dates back to 1963, with each assembly serving a four-year term, after which new parliamentary elections are organized.
