Former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said his country should discuss the deployment of US tactical nuclear weapons on its territory, in light of the current global security instability.

In response to a question about possible options for strengthening the defense capacity of North Korea against missile launches and the start of a Russian military operation in Ukraine, he added: Several NATO member states, including Italy and Germany. “Of course, Japan adheres to the three principles of non-proliferation and supports the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. But now when we ask how we can ensure international security, these discussions should not be limited.”

Abe emphasized that Japan, as a country that dropped atomic bombs, should support its policy of eliminating nuclear weapons in the world.

In 1968 the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty was signed, which legitimized the nuclear arsenals of the five permanent members of the UN Security Council. Other countries lost their right to build or own it after signing the document. weapons of mass destruction.

The document was signed by more than 190 countries. And I was left out: Israel, India and Pakistan. In January 2003, North Korea withdrew from the treaty.
