The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by the Public Transport Authority, signed a memorandum of understanding on the mutual recognition of seafarers’ certificates between the Government of the Kingdom and the Republic of Bangladesh, Bathory, this happened on the sidelines of the Council of the Fourteenth Session of the Joint Committee of Saudi Arabia and Bangladesh in Riyadh.

The signed memorandum of understanding aims to recognize the documents on education, training and qualifications of seafarers working on ships between the Kingdom and the Republic of Bangladesh, as well as to implement the provisions of the International Convention (STCW) 1978 and its amendments. levels of training, certification and shift work of seafarers, as well as to ensure the competence of officers and sailors working on board the ships of the two countries, and their right to perform their duties and achieve optimal standards of maritime safety, property protection and preservation of the marine environment, in addition to meeting the requirements to the duties of each of them in the performance of their work on board ships. This MoU is also in line with the interests of the Kingdom’s Government towards seafarers, supporting them with educational and training programs, developing their capabilities in the maritime sector and opening up new horizons for cooperation and joint work in the field of knowledge and rehabilitation. in a way to ensure the improvement of the quality and efficiency of Saudi seafarers and to complete the process of providing and accepting more integration efforts involving their fellow seafarers from around the world to ensure the uninterrupted flow of global supply chains and logistics.

The MoU includes the mutual recognition of seafarers’ certificates between the Kingdom and the Republic of Bangladesh, a set of important regulatory materials such as requirements for recognition of certificates, training and assessment of seafarers in accordance with the provisions of the basic STCW agreement, and how maritime authorities issue a certificate of recognition after verification recognition requirements, that the assessment of quality standards complies with the requirements of regulation (I/8) of the main agreement, and that those responsible for training and assessment are properly qualified in accordance with the standards of the agreement, as well as mechanisms for auditing and checking the validity of the issuance of certificates and their validity , as well as the exchange of the necessary visit to verify compliance with the requirements, including the opportunity to visit the maritime administrations and educational and educational institutions of the Navy of the other side to see the capabilities of each side in meeting the requirements of maritime training, education and certification, standards with certification, certification procedures, renewal, suspension or withdrawal of certificates, as well as the exchange of information on the validity of the certificate and its enforcement, and the creation of a special electronic database of marine workers, and other levels of organization and collaboration, including Seafarers serving on board , serve ships in both countries.
