Iraq: We reject Iranian and Turkish intervention

After the new Iraqi government officially began its second week of work, following the appointment of new ministers, Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein confirmed that his country rejects foreign interference in its affairs.

Today, Tuesday, he stressed the rejection of Iranian and Turkish interference in his country, stressing that they are unacceptable. He also added: “We reject Iraq as an arena of regional and international conflicts. He said the government wants to continue to improve Iraq’s relations with neighboring countries, noting that the country’s message is one of peace and solidarity to solve problems.”

Regarding participation in the Arab summit held today in Algiers, he indicated that the Iraqi issue will be strongly present. He pointed out that this summit is the summit at which decisions will be made to refrain from interfering in the affairs of Iraq.

Regarding relations with Saudi Arabia, he stressed that the Kingdom is an important state in the Persian Gulf, and Baghdad’s relations with it are very important, adding that the government is committed to maintaining them. In addition, he indicated that his country is committed to a strategic agreement with the United States of America, but has disagreements with Washington regarding policy towards neighboring countries.

On the domestic level, he signaled that some parties are seeking armed chaos in Iraq. He also stressed that Prime Minister Mohamed Al Sudani will take additional steps to protect diplomatic and government institutions. Regarding relations with Kurdistan, he indicated that a comprehensive agreement was signed before the formation of the government on several issues, including relations between Erbil and Baghdad. He concluded by saying, “We have agreed to solve all the problems of Kurdistan, including oil and security issues.”
