Biden plays one last card to defeat the Republicans

In an attempt to inspire hope in Democrats and sympathize with Republicans, US President Joe Biden called the “economy” the “last card” ahead of the midterms. .

On Friday, Democratic President Joe Biden defended what he called his “economic achievements” as he tried to avoid a possible Democratic defeat in the days leading up to the election.

According to opinion polls, they suggest a big Republican victory in the House of Representatives, which will be completely renewed. They are also likely to win a majority in the Senate, where a third of the seats are up for grabs.

During a tour of San Diego, California, Biden said, “Over the past 20 months, we’ve made a lot of progress in strengthening our economy,” adding, “I believe we’re just continuing to do so.”

The U.S. is experiencing the worst inflation in 40 years, and high prices have thwarted the plans of Democrats trying to maintain their majority.

Biden vowed to “lower” inflation, highlighting in particular the huge investments his administration has made in semiconductors and climate in particular.

Biden insisted that the US retains “strengths”: for example, the labor market created 261,000 jobs in October despite rising interest rates, raising fears of a recession.

After the California tour, Biden heads to Chicago on Friday night.

Elections will take place on November 8 and will elect a third of the Senate, or 35 seats out of 100, in addition to 39 state governors.

More than 230 million Americans vote, including more than 8 million early voters, including Biden himself.
