Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in a video message that Russia was shelling Ukrainian positions on the front lines with artillery and that the eastern region alone was hit by nearly 400 strikes on Sunday. The President of Ukraine added that the fiercest fighting continues in the Donetsk region, against the backdrop of massive Russian bombing. He also mentioned that Ukrainian forces in the south are “consistently and prudently destroying the capabilities of the occupiers,” without giving further details.

Zelensky added: “The fiercest battles, as before, are going on in the Donetsk region. Although there have been fewer attacks today due to bad weather, the volume of Russian bombing is unfortunately still very high.

Zelensky also said that the forces in the south are “consistently and prudently destroying the potential of the occupiers,” but did not provide details.

This month, Russia withdrew its troops from the southern city of Kherson and redeployed part of its forces to reinforce its positions in the eastern regions of Donetsk and Lugansk, in an industrial region known as the Donbass.

On Saturday, Kyiv said about 60 Russian troops had been killed in a long-range artillery attack in the south, the second time in four days that Ukraine has claimed significant casualties from a single attack.

In addition, the press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov said that Russia itself will look for those who committed the execution of Russian prisoners of war, and they must be found and punished.

In Poland, Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak announced yesterday that Poland had accepted an offer from neighboring Germany to host additional batteries for US Patriot air defense systems in the country.

Poland’s defense minister said on his Twitter page: “I gladly accepted the offer of the German defense minister to deploy additional Patriot missile launchers in our country.”
