The Kenyan army said in a statement that Kenyan forces operating under the auspices of the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) managed to kill 12 al-Shabaab militants who were trying to attack a Kenyan military base in the village of Sarira in southern Somalia.
It is noteworthy that Al-Shabaab, affiliated with Al-Qaeda, continues to strike Kenyan military bases in southern Somalia.
