Team USA advanced to the round of 16 of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar by defeating their Iranian counterpart with a no-response goal in the third round competition for the second group.
With this win, the US team raised their score to five points and finished second, behind the top tier English team, while Iran’s balance sheet was stuck at three points in third place, and the Wales team finished last in the standings with a point.
The only goal of the match was scored by Christian Pulisic in the 39th minute.
Team USA will face their Dutch counterpart in the Round of 16 on December 4th.
