Volcanic activity on Mount Semeru in Indonesia began to subside today after yesterday’s eruption on the island of Java, forcing more than 2,000 people to flee.
Yesterday, Indonesian authorities raised the volcano’s alert level to its highest level after it showed signs of increased activity.
Authorities have also established a 13-kilometer exclusion zone on the southeast flank of the volcano, knowing that there are 127 active volcanoes in Indonesia.
