Court proceedings begin today in Brussels to establish the involvement of ten people in the 2016 Brussels suicide bombings that killed dozens and injured hundreds. all participants in the case, including the defendants and lawyers, who represent about a thousand victims of the attacks. The largest-ever trial has begun to determine whether 10 people were involved in suicide bombings carried out by Islamist militants in Brussels in 2016, which killed 32 people and injured more than 300.
More than six years after the attacks, Judge Lawrence Massart, the presiding judge, will on Monday identify all parties in the case, including the defendants and lawyers representing about a thousand victims of the attacks for which the Islamic State “claimed responsibility.”
Massart will then speak to a jury that was selected from a group of 1,000 Belgians last week in a 14-hour process.
