The Islamic world supports people affected by conflicts, migrants and displaced people around the world

The Muslim World League and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies have signed a cooperation agreement to provide a comprehensive humanitarian assistance package to victims of armed conflict, displaced persons and migrants in several countries around the world.

The agreement was signed in the American capital, Washington, between: His Excellency the Secretary General of the Muslim World League, President of the Association of Muslim Scholars, Sheikh Dr. Muhammad bin Abdul Karim Al-Issa and His Excellency the Secretary General and Director General of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies Jagan Chapagin.

His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Al-Issa emphasized that cooperation between international organizations is critical to achieving humanitarian goals, and the Muslim World League is pleased to work with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies to provide support to those affected by conflicts. especially alleviating the suffering of migrants and displaced persons.

“We are confident that our partnership with the Muslim World League will be essential in reaching those affected by natural disasters and crises around the world. Through this cooperation, our joint commitment to humanism and humanitarian work will be strengthened,” Jagan Chapagin said.

According to the agreement, the Association will contribute resources, knowledge, experience, contacts, disseminate information, and review and evaluate each project in detail, and the International Federation will implement the planned projects with the agreed quality and timing, and provide regular reports on what to follow-up.

Both parties have identified priority areas for this agreement, which will include, but are not limited to: providing “humanitarian” assistance to affected people and affected countries, such as cash assistance and assistance in the form of vouchers given to displaced people to meet their basic needs, and immediate assistance evacuees, as well as families with children, Provide cash assistance to the most vulnerable groups, in addition to the shelter program for those who have left their homes, as well as those whose homes have been damaged or destroyed.

This will also include the provision of water, sanitation, hygiene and health care, including mental health and psychosocial support, in addition to strengthening the response capacity of national communities and their ability to respond to emergencies, as well as support for migrants and displaced people. rescuing people from natural disasters and crises in a number of regions through humanitarian aid points and other operations conducted by the IFRC and its partners, including rescue operations, humanitarian assistance and protection for migrants and displaced persons, as well as food and non-food items, emergency shelter, water supply, sanitation and hygiene, health care, including mental health and psychosocial support, as well as restoring family links, specialized referrals, child protection, violence prevention and combating human trafficking.

Projects also include strengthening social cohesion between mobile people and host communities through initiatives aimed at reducing stigma, discrimination and xenophobia, as well as supporting mobile people and host communities to improve living standards, community resilience and economic and social reintegration. the two parties will work on cooperation regarding structures and innovative financial activities, including, in particular, in accordance with Sharia, and other fundraising instruments such as donations based on zakat or sadaqah.
