The Lebanese media cited reports that one person was killed and several wounded as part of UNIFIL forces following a dispute between the people of southern Lebanon and UNIFIL, during which there was an exchange of fire.

The Irish Defense Forces said in a statement that an Irish soldier from a United Nations peacekeeping mission was killed in Lebanon late Wednesday evening when a convoy of two armored vehicles with eight soldiers heading towards Beirut came under fire from small arms fire.
The statement added that another member of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) is in critical condition after undergoing surgery following the incident, while two other soldiers are being treated for minor injuries.
“We regret to confirm that one of our peacekeepers was killed last night in a serious incident in Lebanon,” the Irish Defense Forces said in a statement.
