The death toll from a mosque explosion in Pakistan has risen to 83.

The death toll from a bomb attack on a mosque at the Peshawar Police Headquarters in northwest Pakistan rose to 83, according to medical officials on Tuesday. address 50 km from the border with Afghanistan.

“This morning we will remove the last section of the collapsed roof so we can retrieve more bodies, but we are pessimistic about the chances of finding other survivors,” emergency services spokesman Bilal Ahmed Faizi told AFP.

For his part, Muhammad Asim Khan, a spokesman for the Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar, told AFP that the death toll had risen to 83 and more bodies had been found.

And the police headquarters area in Peshawar is one of the most heavily guarded areas in the city and includes the headquarters of several intelligence agencies.

After the bombing, the capital Islamabad and all areas of the country, especially those located on the border with Afghanistan, were put on high alert.

After several years of relative calm, attacks resumed with force. It was carried out by elements of the Pakistani Taliban, the Islamic State-Khorasan Province or Baloch separatist groups.

Pakistan accuses the Taliban of allowing these groups to use Afghan territory to plan their attacks, which Kabul has repeatedly denied.
