As of Sunday afternoon, Majore Taylor Green’s remarks drew criticism on microblogging site Twitter. And since this job is financially impractical and time-consuming, Twitter urged the Republican representative to leave it and go home without hesitation. Others compared the parliamentarian’s salary to the minimum wage in her home state of Georgia, which is $5.15 an hour, and one argued that the MP refused to vote for a minimum wage increase. Others said the minimum wage had not changed since 2009. British newspapers such as The Guardian picked up on the story, emphasizing the criticism of the American parliamentarian because of this statement.
