Russia uses new military tactics in Ukraine

Attacks on Ukrainian military installations and infrastructure in February demonstrated new tactical elements to counter Ukrainian air defense, as well as the use of new weapons. During the first wave of attacks on targets, suicide drones “Gayran-2” were launched. This launch “woke up” Ukrainian air defense systems, Komsomolskaya Pravda reports.

Aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces, in turn, recorded radar radiation, after which the command quickly chose routes to the targets during the second wave of strikes.

In addition, on February 10, the Russian military used suicide boats for the first time in an attack. In addition to strikes, Gairan performs another task – “wakes up” Ukrainian air defense.

In response to these potential threats, Ukrainian air defense radars are turned on, the radiation of which is recorded using Russian airborne early warning aircraft.

Taking into account the latest information on the whereabouts of Ukrainian air defense systems, methods are being determined for aiming missiles at the targets of the second wave, including Caliber ship-based missiles.

So, according to Ukrainian channels, the missiles, having entered Zaporozhye from the south, changed course and headed towards the Dnepropetrovsk and Kryvyi Rih regions, where the main railway junctions providing the front are located.

In addition, Yevgeny Prigozhin, head of the Russian armed group Wagner, said yesterday that his forces had taken control of the Ukrainian town of Krasnaya Gora, a few kilometers north of Bakhmut, which Moscow has been trying to capture for months. “Today, Wagner’s offensive units took control of the city of Krasnaya Gora,” his press service quoted him as saying, Agence France-Presse reports.

He also posted a short video of what appears to be Wagner fighters next to a sign at the entrance to Krasnaya Gora. The population of the village before the war was about 600 people.
