Advancing Peace and Human Rights in Iraq through the United Nations Secretary

The United Nations announced that Secretary General António Guterres discussed in Baghdad during his first visit to Iraq in 6 years “support for efforts” to bring peace to that country. Today, Guterres will visit a camp for displaced persons in northern Iraq, and then head to Erbil, where he will meet with representatives of the Kurdistan Regional Government. Guterres last visited Iraq in the spring of 2017, and from Iraq the Secretary General will travel to Qatar to attend the Smallest Growth Summit.
