EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell said that Belgrade and Pristina reached an agreement during negotiations in North Macedonia on the implementation of the program of the European-American reconciliation plan in Kosovo and Serbia. The agreement was reached following talks between Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić and Kosovo’s Prime Minister Albin Kurti yesterday in North Macedonia, with the participation of Borrell and the European Union Special Representative for Belgrade-Pristina Dialogue Miroslav Lajcak.
Following the talks, Borrell said that after 12 hours of talks, Kosovo and Serbia had agreed on practical ways to implement the European Union-backed reconciliation plan, noting that both sides reaffirmed their full commitment to respecting all the terms of the agreement.
North Macedonia hosted the leaders of Kosovo and Serbia for new talks on the normalization of relations between them under the auspices of the European Union, which presented a proposal of 11 articles, including that Belgrade recognize Kosovo in accordance with international law, but will take into account the state status of its former territory, and also stipulates that Serbia must recognize it. Especially with passports, car numbers and Kosovo customs documents.
In return, Kosovo will be obliged to institutionally ensure the rights of ethnic Serbs in the country.
