The Iranian embassy in Greece denied Israel’s allegations that Tehran was involved in planning the attack by two Pakistanis on the Jewish headquarters in Athens.

The Iranian Embassy in the Greek capital tweeted: “The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Athens strongly denies the rumors spread by Zionist sources and unfounded accusations against Iran.”

She added: “Obviously, the publication of a fake report is a naive scenario designed by this organization to distract public opinion and try to cover up its internal events.”

Greek security forces have arrested two Pakistani nationals accused of planning an attack on an Israeli restaurant in Athens.

And AFP reported that two Pakistanis, aged 29 and 27, were arrested as part of an operation to dismantle a “terrorist network” in Greece.

The police had previously announced the “liquidation of the terrorist network” and the detention of two foreigners who planned to “strike” from abroad.

Reuters reported, citing Greek police and informed sources, that the Israeli intelligence service (Mossad) helped the Greek police uncover what it called a “terror network” in Athens and that Israel claims the detainee was collaborating with Iran.

According to him, the Greek policeman told the media, without giving his name, that the detained Pakistanis received orders from other Pakistani citizens inside Iran.
