The Kingdom, represented by the General Commission on Geodesy and Geospatial Information, headed by the Chairman of the Commission, Dr. Muhammad bin Yahya Al Sayel, Chairman of the United Nations Arab Committee of Experts on Geospatial Information Management, took part in the first meeting of the International Advisory Committee of the UN Global Center for Geospatial Knowledge and flooring innovation – China. The meeting discussed the proposed agenda and an overview of the experience of some Member States, where China presented its experience in the development of geodetic work and mapping, as well as the importance of geospatial information for monitoring the achievement of sustainable development goals and integrating geospatial and statistical information and international services. and the applications it provides via satellites for the purposes of land discovery and resource management Application of GIS in regional planning. For its part, the Kingdom reviewed the experience of the Directorate General of Geospatial Research and Geospatial Information in aligning the national geospatial strategy it is developing with the Integrated Geospatial Information Framework (IGIF) in addition to the steps to establish its national geospatial strategy and the importance of the nine strategic directions that make up the Integrated Geospatial Framework (IGIF). ) that represent a path of governance, policy, finance, data, standards, innovation, partnerships, education and capacity building, communication that will provide guidelines for solving problems in the field of imaging and geospatial information.
The meeting also discussed the activation of the Integrated Geospatial Information Framework (IGIF) and its implementation at the Member State level, as well as some of the existing initiatives within the working groups of the Integrated Geospatial Information Framework high-level group, as well as the basic principles of the Global Geospatial Knowledge Center and innovation of the United Nations.
