The novel’s page generated controversy on social media and garnered all the attention as it was widely circulated and turned into a source of ridicule as it describes Oscar’s sexual relationship with a woman named Julia.
For his part, Father of France MP François Ruffin said the minister “should not have a minute, an hour or a week of his time to devote to writing a book” at a time when the French are facing “great concerns about inflation.”
In an unfortunate turn of events, the novel was published on Thursday, hours before Fitch downgraded the country’s debt rating.
While Le Maire’s colleague Labor Minister Olivier Dussaud said he had not read the new novel, he defended the minister’s right to authorship, adding: “It shows that there are feelings behind the official appearance of the ministers.”
It comes amid an escalating controversy about the Macron government after French Social Economy Minister Marlene Chiba appeared on the cover of Playboy magazine in its April issue, but already in full clothes.
For his part, Le Maire, who has written five of his 13 books in the last four years, indicated that he had no problem balancing his political and literary roles.
And he continued last week in an interview with Agence France Presse: “If there was only politics – without the freedom that literary and romantic creativity gives – politics would not be enough.”
Lemaire is the first prominent French politician with broad literary ambitions.
And he tweeted in a statement: “Many followers are curious to know how I find time to write while in office,” noting that while he devotes all of his time to his position, he has also learned to take care of his “personal balance.” .
He stated, “Some people go to museums, cinemas, concerts and football games. Others garden or take long walks. As for me, I write.
“It is a necessity to get up early, go to bed late and devote your weekends and vacations to this,” he concluded.
