English club Newcastle, owned by the Saudi Investment Fund, are reportedly set to close a major deal during the upcoming summer transfer period by signing Brazil’s Rafinha from Barcelona.
According to Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, Newcastle will have to pay €80m if they want to sign Rafinha.
The newspaper indicated that if the deal was completed for the amount that Barcelona demanded (80 million euros), then Rafinha would become the most expensive player in Newcastle’s history.
Swedish striker Alexander Isaac, who joined from Real Sociedad last summer, is now the most expensive deal in Newcastle history after he moved for €70m.
Newcastle’s task of signing Rafinha will not be easy, with English sides Arsenal and Chelsea also interested in the Brazilian winger.
It is worth noting that this season Rafinha played 45 matches for Barcelona in various tournaments, in which he scored 10 goals and gave 11 assists.
