Dead Cells Sells Over 10 Million Copies

Introduction

Dead Cells is now considered one of the most successful independent video games ever. The makers, Evil Empire and Motion Twin, announced on Monday that more than 10 million copies of Dead Cells have been sold since the game first became available for early access in 2017.

Free Game Updates and Paid DLCs

Since the release of Dead Cells’ complete version 1.0 for PC and console in 2018, users have been given access to 34 free game updates. Four paid downloadable content packs have also been made available for the game, one developed in conjunction with Konami and titled Return to Castlevania.

Possible Future Updates

In addition to releasing the game’s sales figures, it was announced that the creators are considering creating additional downloadable Dead Cells content for users to enjoy.

“Following the success of Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania, Evil Empire has been exploring the path forward for the title as a whole,” the firms said in a joint statement. “With years of successful updates and expansions behind it after taking over live ops of Dead Cells in 2019, the studio is tinkering with its time-tested methodology, experimenting with ideas for future updates and new ways for fans to enjoy one of their favorite roguelikes.”

Conclusion

Dead Cells’ success can be attributed to its engaging gameplay, beautiful graphics, and regular updates that keep players coming back for more. With the possibility of future updates and content, Dead Cells is sure to continue to attract new players and maintain its position as one of the most successful indie games of all time.
