Sony’s New Audio Technology Patent Could Enhance PlayStation VR2
Sony is known for its extensive collection of patents covering various technological advancements. These patents range from technologies that we already see and use in products like the PS5, to ideas that have yet to be implemented. This particular patent, recently made public after its application was filed in December 2022, appears to fall into the former category. It could potentially bring significant improvements to the upcoming PlayStation VR2.
The patent introduces a new audio technology that dynamically responds to a player’s movements while wearing a “head-mounted display.” Although the patent avoids explicitly mentioning VR, it’s clear from the accompanying illustrations that it’s intended for a VR headset.
