Pakistan on Friday warned New Delhi of “unpleasant consequences” for an unidentified high-altitude supersonic object “of Indian origin” that crashed in Pakistani territory.

The two nuclear-armed neighbors have fought three wars and engaged in numerous military clashes, more recently in 2019, which saw both air engaged forces in combat.

He said the military was not sure of the nature of the object, which he said crashed near eastern Pakistan city of Mian Channu and originally from India city of Sirsa, in Western province of Haryana in India.

Pakistan also called on India to share the result of investigation of the incident.

There was no immediate response from the Indian Ministry of External Affairs to a Reuters query on the question.

“The flight path of this object has danger many people national and international passenger flights at a time in Indian and Pakistani airspace as well as human life and property of ground,” said military spokesperson Iftikhar.

A pakistan air force official to news The conference said the object was undergoing forensic analysis and initial studies suggested it was a surface-to-surface supersonic missile but was unarmed.

He said he was traveling at an altitude of 40,000 feet on Mach 3 and traveled 124 kilometers (77 miles) in Pakistan’s airspace before crashing.

Iftikhar said that the military would not jump to conclusions until they got an explanation from India, but said Pakistan had strongly protested against a “flagrant violation” of son airspace.

“No matter caused for this incident to occur, it is for the Indians to explain,” Iftikhar said.
