Apple Moves End Call Button in Newest iOS 17 Developer Version
Apple has relocated the end call button to the center of the screen in the latest developer version of iOS 17 released on Tuesday.
This change reverses a decision that Apple had been considering over the summer, as reported by HaberTusba last week.
In previous beta versions of iOS 17, the red “End Call” button had been moved to the lower right-hand corner, departing from its traditional centered position in the bottom half of the screen. However, in the most recent developer beta, the red end call button is now centered vertically among three buttons located close to the bottom of the screen.
It’s important to note that Apple’s potential user interface modification is not yet final and is currently only available in Apple’s latest developer beta. The developer and public beta release programs are designed for software developers and early adopters to test the new iPhone operating system and identify any bugs before the official release in the fall, alongside the new iPhones.
The position of Apple’s end call button has remained relatively unchanged for years. However, in the newest version, Apple is revamping its call ID function with a new feature called “contact posters.” This feature allows users to select the photo that appears when they call another iPhone user. Since the new photos occupy most of the screen during a phone call, Apple has moved the buttons to the bottom.
In the summer of 2021, Apple also contemplated a similar change for Safari, relocating the URL bar to the bottom of the page. This adjustment aimed to provide a more ergonomic experience for users with larger screens. However, Apple decided to revert some of its planned changes and gave users the option to move the URL bar back to the top before the official software release. In recent years, Apple has also shifted the placement of push notifications to the bottom of the iPhone’s screen.
