Shang-Chi and the Quest for Immortality is a new graphic novel from Marvel Comics that expands the adventures of the hero by diving further into his revised origins and backstory. The book focuses on Shang-Chi’s upbringing as an heir to the Five Weapons Society when he was only twelve years old. Upon overhearing that his somewhat distant father Zheng-Zhu may be losing his vast power, Shang-Chi sets out to restore him by way of the mystical Peaches of Immortality. This quest leads him outside his familial castle and into the outside world, where he discovers that all isn’t quite what it seems when it comes to Zheng-Zhu.

Written and Drawn by Victoria Ying

The book is written and drawn by Victoria Ying, an artist with an extensive career in some of the most prolific animated movies of the past decade. Ying has worked on major Disney projects such as Frozen, Moana, and Big Hero 6. She also contributed to the illustration of Diana: Princess of the Amazons, an all-ages DC graphic novel featuring a young Wonder Woman. Additionally, Ying has two original works as an author/illustrator, City of Secrets and Hungry Ghost.
