Call of Duty Next: A Look into the Future of the Series

The highly anticipated event, Call of Duty Next, just concluded, showcasing exciting updates and features for the series. From the highly anticipated release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 to the new Warzone 2.0 map and the upcoming Warzone Mobile, gamers were treated to a plethora of exciting content.

Gaming Sessions and Multiplayer Updates

The event kicked off with thrilling gaming sessions focused on the multiplayer sector of Modern Warfare 3. Famous streamers engaged in intense online battles on remastered maps from the original MW2 chapter, offering a nostalgic experience for fans.

One significant announcement during the event was the introduction of Tac-Stance. This new feature gives players the ability to change their aiming position and tilt their weapon for optimal precision in any situation. The addition of perks in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 was also confirmed, with each slot requiring a piece of equipment.

Another exciting reveal was a new mode called Cutthroat, a fresh take on Clash. Three teams of three players each compete in a round-based setup. When time runs out, a flag appears in the center of the arena, intensifying the battle until the match concludes.

Zombies Mode and Warzone 2.0

Call of Duty Next also showcased the anticipated Zombies mode in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. For the first time in the series, players will explore a completely open world instead of the traditional circular structure. Videos from the event showcased intense action with 24 players working together to fend off hordes of undead creatures. AI-controlled mercenaries will also pose a formidable challenge as enemies.

The map for the Zombies mode is the same as Warzone, but players are now dropped onto it from a cargo ship using parachutes. Crates containing weapons and upgrades, iconic elements of Call of Duty’s Zombies mode, will be scattered throughout the map.

Additionally, Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0, now known simply as Warzone, introduced Urzikstan, a new free-to-play map accommodating 150 players per game. The gameplay incorporates changes from Modern Warfare, including tactical stances and increased health. Furthermore, the new map features a three-way Gulag, inviting players to engage in intense nighttime battles with the aid of night vision goggles.

An exciting update is the inclusion of Rebirth Island in Warzone again by the end of the year. Moreover, players can look forward to the release of the Fortune’s Keep map throughout 2024.

Warzone Mobile and Cross-Progression

Finally, Activision revealed details about Call of Duty Warzone Mobile, a free-to-play game that seamlessly shares progression with PC and console versions. Players can enjoy Battle Pass tiers and special rewards across platforms.

Warzone Mobile will also offer full gunsmith support, granting fans the opportunity to fully customize their weapons. The game will feature both a battle royale mode and a classic multiplayer mode, including beloved maps like Shipment and Shoot House.

While Rebirth Island will be available immediately, the release window for Warzone Mobile has been pushed back from late 2023 to spring 2024.
