A project nearly as old as the game

We’ve been hearing about the film adaptation of the popular video game, Five Nights at Freddy’s, for a long time now. In fact, this project has been in the works for almost as long as the game itself. The creator of the game, Scott Cawthon, had been hoping to bring it to the big screen for almost ten years.

After going through various studios, including Warner Bros., the film eventually found a home at Blumhouse Productions. They brought on board Chris Columbus, the director of movies like “Home Alone” and the first two “Harry Potter” films. However, due to Scott Cawthon’s dissatisfaction with the script, he decided to start the project from scratch. As a result, Chris Columbus left the project, and it ended up in the hands of Emma Tammi. Now, after all these years, Five Nights at Freddy’s is finally ready to hit theaters, but not without facing some challenges.

The FNAF film receives harsh criticism

The film adaptation of Five Nights at Freddy’s, scheduled for release on November 8 in France, has already premiered in American theaters before Halloween. It was meant to be a highly anticipated event, but unfortunately, it has not lived up to expectations. According to critics, the film fails in many aspects, currently holding a 28% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

This low score does not necessarily reflect the opinion of the audience, especially the fans of the game. While fans appreciate the level of faithfulness to the game’s storyline, they agree with the critics that the direction of the film falls short, making it a disappointing horror movie. The production aimed for a “PG-13” rating, limiting the horror elements of Five Nights at Freddy’s. In less than two weeks, the film will be released in French cinemas, where viewers will see the extent of the damage or, hopefully, be pleasantly surprised.
