FX has set a premiere date of October 14, 2026, for the second season of The Lowdown, the Tulsa-set crime drama created by Sterlin Harjo. The announcement, accompanied by new footage from the upcoming season, confirms that Ethan Hawke will be joined by Academy Award winner Tommy Lee Jones in a major series role.
The new season introduces Tommy Lee Jones as Lee Raybon Sr., the estranged father of Hawke’s protagonist, Lee Raybon. This casting marks a significant television appearance for Jones and signals a deepening of the show’s personal stakes as the younger Raybon continues his work as a “truthstorian” in Oklahoma.

Sterlin Harjo continues as the series’ writer and director. Harjo’s influence is central to the show’s specific “Tulsa noir” atmosphere, which blends dark investigative elements with a dry humor often compared to the style of the Coen brothers or The Big Lebowski. The production maintains a heavy focus on the local textures of Tulsa, using the setting as a character in itself as the narrative moves through the city’s unique criminal underbelly.
The second season will consist of eight episodes. The series is scheduled to debut with a two-episode premiere on FX, with episodes subsequently available for streaming on Hulu.
