Netflix is set to release its latest high-stakes survival thriller, Dead-End Job, on October 30, 2026. Arriving just in time for the Halloween season, the South Korean series (originally titled Kkuralba) is being positioned as a spiritual successor to the survival-horror themes popularized by Squid Game, albeit with a more overt lean into supernatural terror.
The story follows Hyeok-jun, portrayed by Lee Jae-wook, a man struggling under the weight of mounting debt. In a desperate attempt to resolve his financial crisis, he accepts a job offer that pays 50 times the standard minimum hourly wage. However, the “sweet gig” quickly devolves into a nightmare as the work requirements pull him into life-threatening scenarios involving swarms of moths and a sinister clown figure.
Unlike the human-orchestrated games of previous hits in the genre, Dead-End Job introduces specific horror elements that elevate the stakes. The cast features several genre veterans, including Go Min-si as an accident investigator named Yeon-joo and Kim Min-ha as the protagonist’s sister, Ji-yoon. The series is directed by Kim Da-min. Han Jun-hee, known for his work on D.P. and Weak Hero Class 1, serves as executive producer.

Before its global streaming debut, Dead-End Job will have an early showing at the 31st Busan International Film Festival. The festival is scheduled to screen the first four episodes of the series on October 7, 2026, offering a preview of the horror and suspense that will characterize the full release later that month.
This release is part of a broader push for dystopian and survival content on the platform. Following the October launch of Dead-End Job, Netflix has scheduled the Japanese series Quiztopia for December 17, 2026. While Dead-End Job focuses on the immediate terror of supernatural “jobs,” Quiztopia is expected to lean back into the dystopian game format, providing a steady stream of survival-themed content through the end of the year.
