The year 2027 is emerging as a major milestone for “The Last of Us” franchise, marking a dual return through both television and high-end collectibles. While fans wait for the next chapter of the HBO adaptation, Naughty Dog and its partners are preparing a roadmap that includes the premiere of Season 3 and the arrival of the most ambitious physical release in the series’ history.
The cornerstone of the 2027 calendar is the return of the HBO series. Following the broadcast of Season 2 in early 2025, production on Season 3 is currently underway. Principal photography for the third season began in British Columbia in March 2026 and is scheduled to wrap in November 2026, positioning the series for a 2027 premiere.

The $2,400 Bloater Statue
Coinciding with the show’s return, Prime 1 Studio has announced a massive 1/4 scale statue of the Bloater, one of the franchise’s most formidable infected types. The “Ultimate Deluxe Edition” of the figure is priced at $2,399, while a standard version is available for $1,799.
The high-end collectible is scheduled for a shipping window between December 2027 and March 2028. Designed for dedicated collectors, the statue features intricate technical details, including:
- LED illumination for a “door backdrop” environment.
- Swappable heads.
Expanding the Franchise Canon
The momentum heading into 2027 follows significant updates from the game’s original creators. On September 26, 2026—the franchise’s annual “The Last of Us Day”—Naughty Dog confirmed that two new projects are in early development. These titles are intended to expand the established canon beyond the events of “The Last of Us Part II.”
While Pedro Pascal is confirmed to return for the HBO series, his 2027 schedule follows a busy period in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Pascal is set to appear as Reed Richards in “Avengers: Doomsday,” which is scheduled for release on December 18, 2026. This transition back to the world of Joel Miller comes after Season 2 of the HBO series aired from April 13 to May 25, 2025, covering the initial portions of the second game’s narrative.
As filming for Season 3 concludes later this year, the focus shifts to post-production and the eventual convergence of the TV premiere and the release of the franchise’s new premium merchandise in late 2027.
