The Kremlin warned that the Ukrainian Air Force’s bombing of an oil facility in the Belgorod region in southwestern Russia, adjacent to the Ukrainian border, could adversely affect the course of negotiations between Moscow and Kyiv.

Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Friday, in response to a question about whether Ukraine’s bombing of the aforementioned Russian facility was an escalation, which cannot be considered a step that contributes to creating the conditions for ongoing negotiations between Moscow and Kyiv.

Peskov stated that this was due to the authorities of the relevant security services, and refused to make an assessment of what happened.

Russian President Vladimir Putinin Confirming that he was briefed on the details of the accident, he added that Alexander Choprian, Acting Minister for Emergencies, went to Belgorod to reorganize the fuel supply chains and prevent any accidental impact.

“The superiority in the air during the operation of the Russian armed forces in Ukraine is an absolute fact,” the Kremlin spokesman said.

Belgorod Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov confirmed that the fire at the oil facility 40 km from the Ukrainian border was the result of two raids by two Ukrainian army helicopters. accident.

Peskov’s remarks came against the backdrop of the resumption of talks via videoconference today, after concrete progress was made at a meeting between Moscow and Kyiv delegations in Istanbul last Tuesday.
