Islamabad has asked the Afghan government to secure the border area adjacent to Pakistan and take strict action against those involved in terrorist activities against Pakistan in order to achieve peace and progress for the two sister countries.
In a statement released today by the Pakistani Foreign Ministry in response to media inquiries about recent incidents that took place on the Pakistani-Afghan border, it is explained that terrorist attacks on Pakistani forces from Afghan territory have increased in recent days, and within a few months, Pakistani and the Afghan authorities have been engaged through institutional channels to effectively coordinate and maintain security along their long-standing common border.
He added that in the past, Pakistan has repeatedly asked the Afghan government to secure the Pakistan-Afghan border area, as terrorists use Afghan soil to carry out terrorist activities in Pakistan.
He said: “Unfortunately, elements of banned terrorist groups in the border area, including the ‘Pakistani Taliban’, continued to attack Pakistani border security posts, resulting in the deaths of many Pakistani military personnel, noting that seven Pakistani soldiers were killed in a similar attack Signed on the fourteenth April.
He stressed that Pakistan strongly condemns the activities of terrorists who carry out terrorist activities from Afghanistan with impunity, noting that such activities are detrimental to efforts to maintain peace and stability along the Pakistani-Afghan border.
The statement said, “Pakistan takes this opportunity to reaffirm its respect for the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Afghanistan, and reiterates its willingness to work closely with the Afghan government to strengthen bilateral relations in all areas.”
