Turkish newspaper Hürriyet reported that for the past year and a half, Ankara has been conducting a secret channel of talks with many countries in the region, including Israel, “perhaps to find a new home for Hamas.”

According to the report, “The most intense negotiations were with Israel, which wanted to deport Hamas activists.”

In the report, it was stated that Ankara informed Hamas that “the holders of military positions in Hamas will not stay in Turkey” and “will not provide military assistance to the movement” and that Hamas’ political activities in Turkey will continue.

The newspaper “Israel Hayom” stated that the Hebrew state has not yet confirmed or denied what is stated in the news of the Turkish website.

According to the Israel Walla website, a senior Israeli political official referred to the contacts with Turkey and said that Israel is not interested in President Herzog’s possible visit.in He said that Herzog did not make a condition for Turkey in return for his visit and added: It is a matter of Turkey.”

“Of course, the rapprochement process is very cautious, there are signs here and there, and we see, for example, that Turkey’s effectiveness against terrorism targeting us on its own soil has doubled,” the official said.

However, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu had previously said that if Turkey normalizes its relations with Israel, “Turkey will not change its policy towards the Palestinians and will not turn its back on them.”
