On Wednesday night, Liverpool scored an important 2-0 victory over Spain’s Villarreal in the first leg of the Champions League semi-finals.
The first goal was scored on their own, from the feet of Pervis Estopinan, who scored in the 53rd minute, and two minutes later the Senegalese Sadio Mane added a second goal after a clever pass from the Egyptian Mohamed Salah.
The second leg between the two teams will take place at La Ceramica next Tuesday.
Notably, the winner of this match will face the winner of the match between Real Madrid and Manchester City next Wednesday.
Villarreal reached the semi-finals of the European Championship for the first time in 16 years, knocking out the Italian Juventus and Bayern Munich. As for Liverpool, they booked their spot in the semi-finals after beating Benfica 3-1 in the first leg and drawing 3-3 in the second leg.
