Balance Changes
Gadgets
Goo Grenade
- Duration for Fire Destruction Increased**: The time required for fire to destroy goo has been extended from 6 seconds to 12 seconds. This change aims to improve the strategic use of the Goo Grenade, allowing players more time to navigate around its effects during skirmishes.
Game Modes
Cashout
- Increased Cash for Kills**: The cash reward for eliminations has been boosted from $200 to $500, promoting more aggressive gameplay and incentivizing players to engage in fights.
- Cashbox Reward Structure**: A new system has been implemented whereby approximately 30% of the cash within a Cashbox is awarded to the team that deposits it upon its arrival at the Cashout Station. The remaining 70% is awarded once the cashout is completed. This eliminates the previous fixed reward of $2000 for initiating a cashout, simplifying understanding and strategic planning for players.
- Removal of Cash Loss Penalties**: All penalties associated with team wipes have been removed, allowing for a more forgiving gameplay experience.
- Vault Spawning Logic Adjustment**: Updated spawning logic will ensure a more even distribution of Vaults at the match’s start, promoting balanced gameplay.
- Notification Messages Added**: Players will now receive HUD notifications when cash is awarded to their team, enhancing feedback and player awareness.
- Increased Cashout Theft Time**: The time taken to steal a cashout has increased from 6 seconds to 7 seconds, which aims to discourage opportunistic stealing and encourage teamwork during cashouts.
Dev Note: These adjustments have been designed to minimize unexpected third-party combat encounters and protracted team conflicts that arise from the Cashout scoring system. The new mechanics will be tested during the VOLPE Championships, and player feedback will be crucial in determining further adjustments.
Ranked Terminal Attack
- Destruction Reset at Half-Time**: Destruction settings will now reset at halftime without requiring a level reload, ensuring a smoother gaming experience with reduced downtime.
Terminal Attack & Ranked Terminal Attack
- Health Regeneration Adjustments: Health regeneration thresholds per archetype have been introduced. Players will now regenerate health differently based on their character type:
- Light: 100 HP
- Medium: 125 HP
- Heavy: 150 HP
- This change is intended to balance encounters and reduce the effectiveness of quick damage exchanges, adding a layer of strategic depth based on player choice of archetype.
Specializations
Evasive Dash
- Cooldown Increase: The cooldown duration for the Evasive Dash ability has been increased from 5.5 seconds to 6.5 seconds per charge, making evasion require more strategic timing.
Goo Gun
- Goo Destruction Time Increased**: Similar to the Goo Grenade, the time it takes for fire to obliterate goo has been extended from 6 seconds to 12 seconds, reinforcing goo as a tactical tool.
Grapple Hook
- Cooldown Decrease**: The cooldown duration has been reduced from 10 seconds to 8 seconds, allowing for more frequent use of this mobility tool.
Healing Beam
- Overheat Time Decrease: The time until the Healing Beam can overheat has been reduced from 7 seconds to 5.5 seconds. This change encourages players to utilize the Healing Beam judiciously, creating opportunities for more strategic play and reducing the risk of overheating during critical healing moments.
Weapons
93R
Bullet Accuracy Improvements:
- Reduced Bullet Dispersion: Slightly decreased the dispersion of bullets fired from the hip in all stances, enhancing overall accuracy when firing without aiming.
- Horizontal Recoil Reduction: Decreased the amount of horizontal recoil during fire, making it easier for players to maintain control and achieve effective follow-up shots.
- Tighter Bullet Cluster: The cluster of bullets fired in a burst has been slightly tightened, further improving precision and making the 93R a more viable option in various combat scenarios.
